Christmas has come and gone. 2015 is almost over and the 2016 new year is upon us. This is a good time to reflect on this past year, our victories and failures assessing what we did right and wrong, make corrections and move on from here. We can either go forward or revert back to our old ways, which will never be profittable, if we intend to improve. So the question is, where do we go from here?
Before you answer, take a good long look back at the 2015 year and ask yourself, what could you have done differently? Be honest with yourself and God. Tell Him where you fell short and be careful to refrain from blaming. Take ownership of your mistakes and then simply ask God for forgiveness. Ask Father to show you what to do to avoid those same pitfalls and how you can become more intimate with Him. Ask Holy Spirit to give you more faith, wisdom and discernment and "ears to hear" what the Spirit is saying to you.
Hebrews 4:1 states, "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God." This is not about making new year's resolutions; this is about takikng invenotry of our spiritual walk and getting real with God. This is about drawing closer to the Lord of Hosts, so He can draw nearer to us.
As 2016 approaches, we are coming to a cross-roads. We can either move forward or go backwards, but one thing is certain we can't remain the same. After honestly reflecting on 2015, now is the perfect time to ask ourselves one very important question, to wit: "Where do we go from here'?
