A Call to Repentance

Whenever the Lord judged a nation, a clarion call for repentance went out first. God is just, so He always sends a warning, to allow a nation time to repent before judgment is administered. In some cases, the nation repented (as in the case of Ninevah), but in most cases the hard-heartedness of the people caused them to refuse God's warning and therefore they were judged accordingly. Ninevah heeded God's warning, repented, and were spared the severe judgment and destruction God had intended for them. The entire nation, including the king, citizens, children, and even the animals went on a solemn fast and repented for their sins; thus Ninevah was saved. Can you imagine what God would do for America, if we repented of our sins nationally, corporately, and individually? The results would be amazing. God is waiting to hear our cry.

2 Chronicles 7:14 is a plea to God's people to repent to receive forgiveness and God's deliverance. In the first chapter of Isaiah, God spoke to the prophet regarding Israels' spiritual condition and fate. "Hear the word of the Lord...If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land; But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it." Then God went on to say, "How is the faithfyl city become a harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. Thsy silver is become dross, they wine mixed with water: Thy princes (leaders) are rebellious and companions of thieves: everyone loveth gifts and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them. Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel. I will ease me of minie adversaries and avenge me of mine enemies: and I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross and take away all thy tin. And I will restore thy judges as at the first." (Isaiah 1:19-26)

God spoke very plainly. He told Israel what they had become and what He was going to do because of it. He offered them the opportunity to repent and get things right with Him, or suffer the consquences, but the choice was theirs. He clearly outlined to them what would happen, if they didn't repent. God made it very plain, that even a child could understand it. It was very simple. It's the same today. God has been warning America of what is coming if we don't repent and amend our ways for quite some time now. America is also stiff-necked and rebellious, and we have grievously sinned against God, but there is still hope. Judgment has not begun, but it will surely come, if we, as a nation does not repent. Like Israel, we have become an unfaithful and rebellious harlot. This is not good. Unless we repent, God is bound to judge us also. So I say to all those reading this blog, gather you children and family together and call a solemn assembly to fast and pray. Repent of your sins as a family and individually. Get on your knees and cry out to God. There is a clarion call from God Almighty going out in this land. "Blow ye the trumpet in Zion. Sound an alarm...Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand." (Joel 2:1) This is a call to repentance. Do it now before it is too late.
