The Indescribable Gift
All my life I wanted to recieve presents, but received very few. I equated gifts with love. I thought if people gave me gifts, they were demonstrating their love for me. Boy, was I wrong. Somehow the few gifts I received, never quite added up to the love I'd hoped for. No matter what gift I received, it never measured up. I always came up short, until I met Jesus. 22 years ago I received the great gift of all, to wit: salvation in Jesus' name. Now, I no longer need gifts because not only have I been given the greatest gift of all, I've also received the gift that keeps on giving. Because of the shed blood of Jesus, I am redeemed and my name is wirtten in the Lamb's book of life. Through Christ my Savior, I have been given eternal life. "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for a friends." (John 15:13) It doesn't get any better than this. Paul wrote about Him in 2 Corinthians 9:15. "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift." Paul was saying that salvation in Jesus' name is indescribable. I agree with Paul. There is no gift to compare with the gift that God gave to the world. "For God so loved the world that He gave HIs only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life." (John 3:16) Isaiah passionately foretold of His coming. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Savior is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6. Jesus is God's gift to humanity. What a wonderful and indescribable gift He's been to me throughout these past 22 years. Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me. He is indeed the Gift that keeps on giving. There are some who want to eliminate Christ from Christmas, but that's impossible. Without Christ, we have no Christmas. Jesus is the only reason for the season. Wise men still seek Him. Thank you Father for giving us Your Son. Thank you for Jesus, the greatest Gift of all.
